From Music to Memory: Discovering the Emotional Architecture of Intelligence
My journey to AstraLucent began long before my 17 years as a software engineer. As a viola major with a piano minor in college, I discovered how music creates indelible links to our memories. This lifelong exploration of memory and philosophy revealed a profound truth: emotion isn't just a feeling. It's a critical indexing system for our memories, working in tandem with time and space.
Through 13 years in AgTech and experience as a Senior Engineering Manager (most recently leading a team of 14 engineers), I witnessed firsthand how leadership divorced from emotional truth creates dysfunction. While other leaders prioritized metrics and control, I navigated leadership through empathy, compassion, understanding, and trust. This approach provided tangible proof that emotional systems are the compass and control panel for all of life's challenges.
My contemplation on how music anchors memories converged with these leadership insights to reveal the epiphany: just as current AI systems have completely failed to consider emotion as a fundamental organizing principle, so too have many leadership philosophies failed to recognize that emotional truth is the foundation of all meaningful connection and achievement.
